The Adventures of Scven

Years ago, I had a 1972 Volvo, that I named Scven. I got it cheap, for it had a bad clunk in the rear-end when you shifted it. It was that bright orange. I was driving home late one blustery winter night, when Scven died on me. I pushed it off to a side street, walked up the next block to an all night store. There, I got a flashlight, and cheap gloves, and trudged back through the snow to the car. I got in and turned the ignition to the first position. At that point, I would always hear the groan-like droan of the fuel pump. The groan was not there, quiet with the key on. Armed with a piece of cardboard, my new flashlight and gloves, I slid under the back. The fuel pump was loacated outside the gas tank (thank God!) I could see a broken wire at the punp. The wires were stiff and shrunken, and did not want to reach the pump any more. I looked in my tool box, and came up with a short piece of wire, and a cotter pin, and crawled back under. Stripping the broken wire, I twisted the extra length to it, and the new end, I twisted to the cotter pin. I jambed the pin into the hole where the wire broke off. I got back in the car and reached for the key, but first, a prayer. I turned the key, and to my delight, the pump groannnnned into action! I drove home. The next morning, I drove the car to work, and dropped it off at the corner station to have the wires repaired. The guys at the shop all looked under the car and laughed at the repair, but I pointed out that I was able to drive it here! Ah, They dont make em like they used to!
PS After a few years, I fixed the clunk, and drove that car far!
